From hospital to home births, my wife, Dr. Ama shares her experiences, insights, and tips for expecting Moms.
The Hospital Experience
Liberty, our first child, was born in the hospital because of the sense of security a hospital provides. If you find yourself giving birth in a hospital, arm yourself with information and create a birthing plan. Along with a birthing plan, you want to have a support person who will advocate for you when you’re in the throes of labor.

The Transition to Home Births
After my wife’s experience with a hospital birth, she decided she wanted a more personalized and natural birthing experience. This decision was bolstered by a trusted midwife and others in her life who believed in her ability to birth without unnecessary interventions.
One of the many benefits of a home birth is an unhurried delivery, where nature is allowed to take its course.

Birthing Twins at Home
The unexpected news of twins, required that we explore even more carefully our options. Through connections and extensive research, Ama found a midwife who specialized in higher-risk births.
Despite resistance from family and the high-stakes nature of a twin delivery, a home birth still felt like the best option. And if you follow us, you know that Ama gave birth to healthy twins who are now 7 years old!
